Simply stated, we are storytellers, and to help tell our stories, we wear clothing and bring display items from the era we portray. We believe there is nothing more important than to approach history as close to real-life as possible.
Programs...
Heritage Programs… Our programs include (TEKS) Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills standards, required learning for Texas students grade kindergarten to 12th. And to make what we do even more impactful, we try to incorporate (STEM) Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math topics in all our programs. We design all our programs to be interactive/open-ended and include activities, stories, and a visual display. We can set up indoors or out, and we don't need a P/A system or electricity. If you are a school administrator, curator at a historic site/museum, a librarian, or a member of a civil organization, give us a call. After that, all you need do is supply the audience, and we'll do the rest.
A Candlelight Tour: “Seeing History from a Different Light” Program... We believe it is our obligation as an interpreter to find innovative ways to teach the history of our ancestors. Our Candlelight Tour program is a perfect example of that. It combines outdoor fun with learning, great for families, couples, or small groups looking for something different to do. Most tours are held at a historic site and start when the sun goes down. With only the light of the guide's lantern illuminating the way, you will stroll down a lantern-lit path leading you to one of our three engaging presenters. Each with a compelling story to tell, what a great way to end the day.
Traveling Exhibit(s)… We plan to build several traveling exhibits that can be used in conjunction with interpretive programs or as a stand-alone exhibit. Like a traditional exhibit, traveling exhibits combine text, graphics, and sometimes objects and/or interactives to deliver a story but differ in that they take on a relatively portable, easy-to-travel format. This makes it possible to take that story on the road, bringing it to places and audiences beyond the normal range. While a traveling exhibit may require some assembly or build out at each location, it is a temporary installation and is usually configured in a modular way for flexibility with layout and simpler set up and dismantle.
Color Guard... Presenting the Colors is a military tradition dating back to the beginning of our country. A Color Guard’s function is to bear the National and State flags at the start of an athletic events, parades, civic/private events, award dinners, funerals, or ECT. And afterward, ensure the flags are retired properly. Our Color Guard will consist of a four-member team; a Senior or Sergeant to bear the national colors, a Sergeant to carry the state colors, two Rifles or Saber bearers and one extra. A Color Guard adds a sense of dignity and respect to any military and civilian-related event and instills a sense of pride and camaraderie in its members.
Buffalo Soldiers 160th Anniversary Exhibit... The Living History Foundation (LHF) is in the process of creating a new exhibit and could use your help. We need pictures of Buffalo Soldiers from the 9th & 10th Calvary, 38th, 39th, 40th, 41st, 24th & 25th Infantry. From the Indian Wars to the present, the exhibit will open in July 2026. Send any information you have, including person(s) name and rank, dates, places, regiment, and ECT. If you don’t have any of that, send them anyway, we can still use them. Thank you in advance.
Where The Magic Happen...
In the past, we have done programs at historical sites, local/state/national parks, schools, universities, festivals, parades, civic buildings, museums, libraries, assisted living sites, and military installations, and churches to name a few.
It is our obligation as an interpreters to find innovative ways to teach the history of our ancestors and pass their legacy on to our audance and the next generation of interpreters.
